Terms and Conditions

  1. You agree to participate in this trek subject to the terms and conditions contained herein.

  2. The trek is conducted along the Kokoda track in a remote area of Papua New Guinea, is of an arduous nature and involves an above average risk of personal injury. This can include injuries from transiting to and from the Track, the terrain, animals or plants.

  3. The trek requires a reasonably high level of fitness to successfully complete and it is your responsibility to ensure that you are physically, mentally and medically prepared for it. Frontline Kokoda has established programs in each state to assist in your physical preparation if required.

  4. Papua New Guinea is a developing country and there are certain risks associated with traveling in that country. These risks include a higher incidence of certain illnesses and diseases. You must make yourself aware of such illnesses and diseases and consult a qualified medical practitioner as to the best preventative measures.

  5. Frontline Kokoda is not responsible for any criminal or malicious acts performed on your person or property while in PNG or for any civil unrest encountered.

  6. We advise you to read the most current DFAT notice as provided by the Australian Government in regards to traveling in PNG prior to embarking on your trek.

  7. While every effort is made by Frontline Kokoda to ensure your personal safety. Full responsibility for all risks associated with your participation in the Trek lies with yourself.

Medical Certificate

The requirements below are designed to help ensure your personal safety and that of your fellow trek participants. We believe as a responsible trekking company that we should know as much as possible about your physical health before a trek commences.

  1. You are required to have a Medical Practitioner certify that you are in good health and physically capable of completing the trek.

  2. You are required to inform Frontline Kokoda of any existing conditions or ailments that may adversely affect your trekking. If you are on medication to treat such conditions, you must provide this medication.

  3. You must provide your own prophylactic medication and inoculations as recommended by a qualified medical practitioner for traveling in PNG.

  4. If over the age of 50, you will be required to undertake a form of supervised heart stress test and supply the result to Frontline Kokoda prior to the trek commencing.

  5. If falling into a potential cardiac risk category (pre-existing condition, overweight) regardless of age, you will be required to undertake a form of supervised heart stress test and supply the result to Frontline Kokoda prior to the trek commencing.

  6. Frontline Kokoda may require you due to your personal circumstance or their concerns, to undertake a form of supervised heart stress test and supply the result to Frontline Kokoda prior to the trek commencing.

Travel Insurance

  1. Inclusive of your trekking fee is a comprehensive travel insurance policy. This will cover your full medical evacuation from the Kokoda Track to Australia if required and all associated expenses as deemed acceptable by the travel insurance company.

  2. You are responsible for any additional expenses incurred due to your premature departure from the trek. You should be aware that some travel insurance policies require you to return to Australia as soon as possible after evacuation from the Track. Frontline Kokoda will not accept liability for any such expenses.

  3. You must provide a valid Passport that has an expiration date at least 6 months after your departure date.

  4. You will be transiting to the Kokoda Track through the city of Port Moresby. All personal expenses incurred above those included in your Trek package are your sole responsibility.

  5. There is an allowance of 20kg of baggage on all international flights into PNG. Payment of any excess baggage charges over this amount is your responsibility.

Payment

  1. A non-refundable deposit of $1000 per person is payable on confirmation of booking.

  2. Balance of payment is due 60 days prior to departure.

  3. If there is any substantial variation in trek pricing due to external factors, a cancellation of your trek with full refund will be offered.

  4. We cannot accept responsibility for any, disappointment, flight delay, accommodation, transportation or other services provided on your trip.

  5. Frontline Kokoda reserves the right to make any variations to the trek itinerary including cancellation. Due to the nature of the trekking environment on the Kokoda Track, minor changes to the proposed itinerary while trekking, are probable. If Frontline Kokoda cancels a trek, a full refund of all payments will be offered.

  6. If you are not in excellent physical condition, it is recommended that you hire a Personal Carrier. If you do not hire a Personal Carrier prior to the commencement of the Trek and subsequently hire one while trekking, you will be required to pay the full Carrier fee plus an additional fee of $200.

  7. Food is provided on the trek and while every effort is made to ensure it’s quality, Frontline Kokoda can not be responsible for any illness, allergic reaction or condition that arises as a result of the consumption of that food.

  8. You agree to obey all reasonable instructions given by Frontline Kokoda and its representatives while on the Trek and in transiting to and from the Kokoda Track, in the understanding that such instructions are to ensure your personal safety.

  9. If it is deemed by a Frontline Kokoda representative that your participation in the Trek be terminated for your own personal safety or for that of the trekking group's, you must accept that decision.

  10. Frontline Kokoda will provide a comprehensive range of trekking equipment, utensils and clothing as part of your trekking package. There are some personal items of equipment, supplies and medication that you are required to provide; Frontline Kokoda will specify these.
